FO Fridays - Storm Cloud Shawlette

This is the first shawl(-ette) I've tried knitting, but it definitely won't be the last. I loved it, and it just flew off the needles.

Here you go Nina. Hope you like it :)

Pre-blocking - wingspan 90cm.

All blocked out - wingspan 112 cm.

Post-blocking - wingspan 100cm.

I love the elongated garter stitch, and am considering trying to make a top in it - I think it would look great over a tank top.

Pattern: Storm Cloud Shawlette.
Yarn: Bumbo Acrylgarn - 100% acrylic.
New technique learned: Stretchy cast off.

WIP Wednesday - Summer top

Not much longer to go now! I finished the back yesterday and had such a feeling of accomplishment when I finally bound off the first 60 stitches :)

Took a photo of the back as well, to more clearly show how much I have left to knit. If I'm as dilligent this week as I was last week, I should be able to finish it!!!

I'm so happy with the way it's turning out, and just HOPE it won't end up being too large. I know I can try it on, but I also know that if I do and it doesn't fit, I'll have lost all motivation to finish. So I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

No photos of the storm cloud shawlette - I finished that over the weekend, so you'll get to see that on Friday :-)

WIP Wednesday - 2 for the price of 1

Another Wednesday, another WIP post.

My Get Fresh Summer Top is coming along swimmingly. I'm completely falling in love with the pattern and the yarn. It's fast and it's fun - knitting in the round is definitely a good thing.

However, I have now come to the part where I knit the front and the back separately, and I can definitely feel it's slowing me down. I don't purl neither as fast nor as evenly as I knit, so the tension isn't quite as even for the last few rows as it has been so far. Ah well, hopefully it won't be too noticable once I finish. Another couple of weeks on this one, and I should be there! :-)

Then Saturday I started the Storm Cloud Shawlette for my sister, Nina. In the hopes of getting her to sew me a case for my needles, I suggested to her that we exchanged crafts. Fortunately she thought that was a brilliant idea, so I'm knitting this shawlette for her in return for the needle case :)

It's a very fast knit - pretty much flying off the needles. I'd guess I'm about half way done - a bit less if Nina would prefer it larger than the original pattern. I'm using an acrylic yarn for this, in the hopes that it won't be too scratchy against her neck.

WIP Wednesday - Summer top

I have a feeling I'll be posting photos of this top on Wednesdays for a while yet ;-)

It's coming along nicely though.

Only one more repetition of this pattern to go and then I need to start thinking sleeves.

I really love the pattern! It's fun to knit, and I think it looks great. Can't wait to see how it'll look on me. I just hope it'll fit... it looks a tad big, but I guess I won't know till it's done.

WIP Wednesday - Summer Top

Lars and I spent most of the weekend catching up on TV-shows, so I've had time for a lot of knitting :) With no further ado, my WIP Wednesday photos:

I don't know what it is with my camera and colours! It's much greener IRL.

A close-up of the details.

I had to switch from my bamboo needles to simple plastic ones. I generally prefer to knit with bamboo needles, but they simply weren't pointy enough to handle the k2tog with any kind of ease. This is MUCH better.

I'm loving the way it's turning out :) Well... not too impressed with the way it keeps curling up, but I'm hoping blocking will help with that once I've finished.
