FO Friday - Tarragon the Dragon

Thank you for your comments on my dilemma on Wednesday. In the end, I figured that proper sized yarn was more important than doing contrasting colours. I finished Tarragon the dragon yesterday, so he's ready to be delivered to his new owner later today :)

Pattern: Tarragon the Gentle Dragon.

WIP Wednesday - Tarragon the Dragon

Clue 2 for the mystery shawl was late this week, so I haven't gotten around to working on that yet. Instead I found the perfect pattern for the dragon my nephew asked me to make for him. So let me introduce you to... Tarragon, the Dragon :)
... he's a bit shy... ;)

He's stalled a bit now though, as I can't figure out whether to make the wings and the spine black or just continue with the same colour. The black yarn is a bit thinner, so might not hold up as well. I've still got the other three legs to do while making my decision :D

And of course, I'm still working on the embroidery for my sister :)

WIP Wednesday - Spring Mystery Shawl (Spoilers!)

Spoiler photo for clue 1 of the Spring Mystery Shawl, so don't scroll beyond the photo of the embroidery if you don't want to see :)

Still working hard on the embroidery for my sister's wedding :) Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to finish by Friday next, but I'm going to give it my best shot! It doesn't help that I'm running quite low on threads of some colours... not impressed! Fortunately I have a large stash from previous projects, so I should be able to find usable substitutes there, but I'm really not impressed that the kit didn't include enough. Had it been just one colour I could brush it off as me displacing a thread somewhere, but it's looking like it'll be at least three different ones... and that's just the ones I've started working on!

Ah well, I still like the way it looks, and I think you can start to actually see what it is by now :)

I finished clue one of the Spring Mystery Shawl last night :) It's looking good so far.
The only problem is that I misread the yardage something terrible (or rather - made the erroneous assumption that there couldn't be that big a difference in yardage as long as something was labeled as "Lace") and ended up using yarn that's almost twice as thin as the pattern calls for! 100gr/1500m rather than 100gr/800m. Thank goodness it's a shawl where it doesn't really matter. It's a lot more flimsy than the other Clue 1 photos I've seen, but I've decided I still like it, so I'm just going to go ahead with the wrong yarn. I know myself well enough to know that frogging it and starting all over with the right yarn (which I don't own anyway, so I'd have to go buy it first) just isn't going to happen ;)

... I still think it's unfair to label something as lace when it's clearly cobweb though ;)

FO Friday - Ladybug sweater

I finished the Ladybug Sweater in time to give it to my niece last Sunday, but of course in true 2-year-old fashion she refused to try it on while I was around ;) I'd expected that though, so had asked my sister to send me a photo once my niece would allow it.

And what a joy it was to receive this via text Tuesday afternoon:
Isn't she just adorable? :D

According to my sister, niece thinks it's "cute, but too warm" ... and considering her nudist tendencies, I can't say I'm too surprised ;)

WIP Wednesday - Puzzle Pieces

After a bunch of bigger projects, I've been in the mood for something small and quick, so I've been working on some puzzle pieces and seaming up the ones I had already made :)

Still working on the embroidery as well though :)

WIP Wednesday - Here Comes the Bride...

Working on yet another embroidery. This one for my sister and brother-in-law-to-be who are getting married soon. I probably won't manage to finish in time, but fortunately my sister is fine with this, as the main reason for me not finishing is that I knit her a shrug to wear with her wedding dress. Somehow that was more important ;)
I know you can't really make much out yet, but I'm not going to post a link to the sample on the off-chance that she stumbles across this blog ;)

Nearly done with the ladybug sweater for my niece. It almost didn't make it to the second WIP post. This has been such a fun knit! I'm very, very happy with it. 3 buttons down and 6 to go. Unfortunately I hate sewing in buttons so I find myself procrastinating quite a bit, but I see my niece next on Sunday, so I have to finish by then :)
(Sorry about the poor quality of the photo - I didn't notice how bad it was until I'd uploaded it.)
